Combat Arms is a multiplayer online game, free-to-play modern first-person shooter developed by South Korean developer Doobic Studios, and published by Nexon. The game uses a game engine Lithtech to produce graphics.
Combat Arms gameplay similar to commercial games like Mission Against Terror, CrossFire, Counter-Strike, Ghost Recon 2 and Call of Duty. The game offers different game modes, including One Man Army, Capture The Flag, Elimination, a multiplayer co-op (known as Fireteam), Quarantine Regen, Elimination Pro, Search and Destroy, Seize and Secure, Spy Hunt, Bombing Run, and Hired guns. During the 2009 Winter Games, a special mode known as Snowball Fight introduced, but later removed.
Combat Arms uses a player ranking system based on the total experience, using a common military rank that the player can obtain. Completing objectives, kill other players, and flatten one's rank gives players money in the form of Gear Points (GP), which can be used to buy new equipment. Equipment includes weapons, weapon attachments, and accessories for a person's character. Players can also purchase the equipment from Black Market (formerly known as Nexon Cash Shop) using NX (Nexon Cash) purchased with real world money. Especially, equipment cosmetics Black Market is different from a regular store items and do not have a rank or level requirements that need a lot of free items. In addition, some items can only be acquired through the Black Market.
All items purchased has a length of time anywhere from 1 to 90 days, (some weapons can be purchased for Permanent duration of stores black market), after the tooth is removed from the inventory of the player; However, players can purchase the item NX with NX standard for permanent and can be extended with the Weapon Renewal Kit, and on rare occasions, Gear Points.
Combat Arms has over 10 million registered players. The game supports community features such as clans and a list of friends' in-game. There is one league official game when it was known as the World Online Gaming League which is Nexon America sponsors, in addition to the upcoming league known only as Combat Arms League.
